Our Pelvic Fertility Endometrial Thickness Scan is specifically designed for individuals preparing for fertility treatment, whether in the UK or abroad. This procedure involves a transvaginal ultrasound to assess the thickness and condition of the endometrium (the lining of the womb), with a basic evaluation of the ovaries.
The scan will measure the thickness and appearance of the endometrial lining to assess its readiness for embryo implantation. Additionally, the ovaries will be checked to ensure they are in a 'quiet' state, meaning there are no active follicles at the time of the scan. Please note that this scan does not include a full follicle count.

A Pelvic Fertility Endometrial Thickness Scan is best performed trans-vaginally for optimum clarity and results. This means that the sonographer will ask for your consent to insert an ultrasound probe into your vagina. If you choose not to have a trans-vaginal scan, we may be able to complete the scan trans-abdominally (by placing an ultrasound probe on the skin of your pelvic area) - but results may not be as accurate.
